Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled Linux System Administrator to drive large-scale enterprise quality Linux server deployment and integration with their existing infrastructure. Join a team of seven highly skilled Unix Sys Admins as a Linux specialist. The successful applicant will have a strong Computer Science background and deep familiarity with Linux system administration.
Environment in Brief:
300+ AIX servers and a growing number of Linux servers running 7 x 24 global mission critical applications including SAP, Oracle, DB2 UDB, Websphere, Tivoli, Siebel, i2 and others in a rapidly changing environment. The computing environment also includes OS/390, Windows, and Netware servers.

Skills:
> BS in Computer Science. (Applicants with a proven track record will be considered).
> Linux sysadmin experience in a multi server environment.
> Some programming experience. (bash, ksh, awk, Perl are all pluses).
> Understanding of operating system concepts and services.
> Exposure to multiple operating systems.
> Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
> Problem determination and performance analysis skills
> Strong written and verbal communication skills.
> Ability to work independently and in teams.
> Experience balancing multiple, dynamic, and sometimes conflicting priorities.
> Absolute commitment to continuous system availability
> Instinct to standardize, simplify, and automate processes and configurations
> Desire to be a team player and thought leader in a highly talented team.
> Innovative thinking, synthesis, and analysis skills
Pluses:
AIX sysadmin, Web server administration, Websphere, html, ssh setup, PGP, sendmail configuration, directory services (especially LDAP), SAN (Storage Area Network) experience, SSA experience, SAP, any RDBMS, Tivoli, Samba, CUPS, in depth scripting / automation, mainframe, Windows, Netware, conversational skills in any foreign language.
