Job Description This position is for a Senior UNIX Administrator in the UNIX/Network Operations group. The employee will have work assignments on the server operating systems, performance improvements, monitoring, disaster recovery, scalability planning, networking, and overall process improvements. This employee will be part of the on-call 24x7 pager rotation (one week per month). Responsiblities: Evaluate, install, debug, audit, maintain, and document UNIX server farms Assist in managing the OS test, release, and push process Create and maintain server and application monitoring Automate configuration, monitoring, and asserting the state of production servers, network equipment, and storage through template/image architecture Architect, implement, and administer a Change Management framework with the Operations technical team Be a part of an on call rotation that does 24x7 monitoring, and be accessible via pager and/or cell phone Take training courses that align with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies Current Challenges: Architect and deploy security infrastructure Multi-environment/IDC deployment Help design and implement OS test and release system Help design and implement increased monitoring and performance on server farms Assist in mapping out current and future performance and scalability issues and solutions Ensure standardization between domestic and international datacenters Requirements: Strong knowledge and experience in UNIX scripting, automation, and architecture in large production server environments from the design phase on Thorough knowledge and understanding of UNIX characteristics and limitations, including standard daemons, protocols, and applications Knowledge of UNIX system/Network performance issues, plateaus, and solutions Knowledge of IP networking concepts Ability to plan, document, install and effectively implement complex server software across heterogeneous server and networking environments Ability to diagnose server and network problems effectively to resolve issues Ability to express oneself clearly and logically, both written and verbally, within a passionate technical team Ability to set goals and execute Must Have Skills: 24/7 on-call rotation supporting up to 50 servers independently 3 years (minimum) in a high volume production environment Strong UNIX shell scripting/automation experience (Bourne shell, bash, perl, sed/awk, etc.) in sizeable server farms, template/push architecture Strong UNIX (Linux preferred) - architecture, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting OS Protocols/Applications (DNS, SMTP, NFS, Apache, etc.) IP Network Fundamentals DB Environment (Oracle preferred) Documentation Clear programming style in scripting Clear communication with DBAs, release team, infrastructure team, architects Ability to prioritize and detail-oriented Nice to Have Skills: Data Center Experience Web Automation (PHP, CGI, Perl) Change Management Environment Nagios/Netsaint/SiteScope Cricket/RRD Cisco/PIX/LocalDirector QA Process Experience (RCS, CVS, Perforce) Compaq/HP Hardware experience (Proliant), preferably with Linux Desired Skills (one of): Security Expertise; Storage Expertise; Performance Analysis, Scaling, Tuning (one of) Results-focused, capable problem solver, ambitious   Please describe the job you are offering.
