Have you always wanted a job that allows you enough R&D on Linux?
We are looking out for a system admin purely on Linux.
Here is the list of expected skills and qualifications on Linux for
Linux Support Personnel:
1] Minimum experience of working on linux for 2 years as a system
administrator alone.
2] Should have implemented solutions on at least two different
distributions of linux. Redhat Linux - upto Redhat Linux 9 is a must.
Fedora Core1 experience is an added advantage. Mandrake Linux or
Debian Linux experience is an added advantage
3] Should have a sound knowledge of TCP IP networking, OS internals
including tuning the OS etc. Particularly security and backup related
issues.
4] Should have implemented http/https sites on Linux using Apache Web
Server And Tomcat for jsp. Should also understand security
implications when setting up web servers.
5] Implementation of Sun One Application Server 7 or Above is an
added advantage
6] Should have worked in compiling packages from source and
installing and configuring them.
7] Sould be able to setup samba, NFS, FTP, ssh, DHCP, SMTP, cron jobs
etc efficiently and on-the-fly directly using config files and without
using GUI tools for management.
8] Knowledge of linux on desktop is an added advantage
9] Linux firewalling knowledge is a must.
