Job Description
|
The Senior Systems Engineer ensures that there is uninterrupted support for the network and data systems, as well as support the design and development of the network. This position involves independent decision making, responsibility, personal initiative, and technical proficiency.
Essential Duties/Tasks
* Administer 100+ RedHat Enterprise server datacenter
* Work as part of a team to support the business in a challenging technical environment.
* Perform server installations and configuration of new equipment
* Monitor and tune hardware and software for optimal performance
* Create technical plans and present them to the team for review
* Identify problems , execute solutions and document them
* Work with developers and quality assurance team to create and support current and future products
* Support and mentor other team members
Knowledge of Industry, Product, and Technology
* 6+ years of RedHat Enterprise Linux in large web application environments
* Expert knowledge of IP networking and routing
* Expert knowledge of firewalls, IDS, network and host based monitoring tools
* Experience developing scripts and automation tools using scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell).
* Ability to learn new technologies and perform competitive analysis and provide recommendations for implementation.
* Expert problem solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills with experience in both technical and business environments.
* Experience and knowledge of storage systems (SAN, RAID, NAS)
* Detail oriented, proactive self starter
Education and other Qualifications
* BS or BA degree
* 7+ years solid experience in IT technology
* 7+ years of strong experience in a high transaction environment
* Expertise working with LAMP based applications (RedHat Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL)
