We are a startup company with extremely rapid growth looking for a server admin to assist us ASAP with expanding our web application. The candidate should be willing to swing by the office 2-3 times a week for a few hours, but other than that can choose to work wherever and whenever.
Some requirements:
- experience with LAMP systems (PHP5, mySQL5, CentOS4, Apache2)
- PHP optimization (eaccelerator)
- quality assurance, benchmarking, load testing
- database optimization is a plus
- exp. with threads and process
- management of proxy servers
- exp. with connection pooling
- large scale systems, lots of requests
- in depth monitoring and analysis
- ability to suggest purchasing decisions
- aggressive tester
Since it is a startup environment we push our employees to expand their horizons and learn as much as they can from their projects. Our web application will be supporting upwards of 2 million users and a significant number of requests a day. This is great experience for an experienced admin to put their skills to the test in optimization.
The extent of time of the position is variable but most likely a few months. However, if the job is done to perfection and the candidate works well with the team then the candidate can be offered the full-time position for much larger projects.
