Title Systems Administrator

Job Responsibilities Become a member of a dynamic and growing team that is vital to Comcast and its internet properties. The individual will be an integral part of the development and testing team, closely working with and supporting the activities of the principal engineers, developers, and software testers for new application deployment and sustained engineering of existing applications. They will participate be responsible for support of production systems and development systems at our data center.
Responsibilities:
Manage all production Solaris/Linux/UNIX systems
Monitor stability and performance
Provide support for common and advanced administrative tasks
Diagnose, correct and document system level problems
Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes
Rack space planning, management and cabling, mounting of various devices
Architecture and environment planning
Manage and operate back-up systems for production and development environments
Management of IP address space for the environment, including private address NATing and creation of Virtual IP addresses for supporting clustered and load-balanced solutions
Liaison with technical suppliers to coordinate on-boarding and of-boarding of new technologies.
Establish and document standard operating procedures for the technical eco-systems that are being managed.
Minimum Requirements Requirements:
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
Five (5) years minimum experience in the configuration and management of UNIX servers and IP network devices and environments, including Sun / Solaris, Intel/Linux web and application servers, Cisco switches and routers. MS Windows server experience, also a plus
Experience in a production service environment
In depth knowledge of UNIX systems and variants
In depth knowledge of TCP/IP TCP/IP networking concepts, NATing and address space management
Experience with scripting (Perl preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle on-call duty as well as out-of-band requests
Strong sense of responsibility, ability to work in a team environment, helpful can-do attitude
