Job Description

We need multiple Sr. Data Center Admins for one of our clients in Brisbane (South San Francisco). The existing team consists of Linux system administrators who are familiar with a multi-platform system management and a variety of hardware including storage, networking, and internet appliances. The successful candidates support a data center with about 1200 servers on two coasts, and the company has over 4500 servers in total. The primary Operating system is Linux (CentOS) with some Windows web servers as required.
We need senior people who can think on their feet with extensive Data Center knowledge. Strong unix command line skills, ability to write complex perl or shell scripts for automation of the administration of these systems. Familiarity with unix internals and system calls.
The candidate should have experience in large environments that are transitioning to more formal processes such as notification and escalation, and release management. This position requires experience with capacity planning as it relates to growing out the site as well as performing sustaining support. Support the 7x24 env with on-call rotation.
* 5-10 years system administration experience
* Perl, Shell, expect, PHP, for complex automation tasks
* Deep knowledge of BIND / DNS and tcp/ip networking
* Apache/Tomcat and related web technologies
* Familiar with cfengine, jumpstart, kickstart and other automation tools
* Experience with authentication (LDAP) security (Kerberos)
* Operational Java / Tomcat experience
* Familiar with tools such as (gdb, purify / quantify, truss, etc.)
* Large scale storage experience (NAS / SAN, HSM, backups) a plus.
* Oracle/SQL experience a plus.
* Significant build/release experience a plus
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Recent experience supporting Linux in a "five-nines" data center environment.
* Systems Engineering knowledge for distributed environment
* IT Project Management experience
* Adaptability to work quickly and change directions as priorities change.
* Education Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
