Job Description
|
1. Manages IT Infrastructure projects that include elements of Linux, Unix/Solaris, Network and DBA activities according the defined project management guidelines.
2. Identifies and promotes opportunities for cross-business sharing, re-use of technical components, portfolios and integrated architectures.
3. Participates in, and provides input to, the evolution of the IT Infrastructure architecture.
4. Participates in vendor and technology selection process.
5. Establishes strong working relationships with application programmers, business analysts, members of the Information Technology team.
6. Supports certification of the appropriate infrastructure configurations (builds) that support business/applications.
7. Assists with management of technical delivery to internal customers.
8. Communicates risk, issues, assumptions, timelines and concerns to the management team.
9. Participates in the planning of system releases, iteration plans and the deployment of the systems.
10. Establishes audit objectives and devises audit plans to ensure continued proper software usage and deployment.
11. Identifies ways to assure new project initiatives do not create additional application/infrastructure complexity.
12. Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
13. Participates in the integration of the Linksys IT Infrastructure with Cisco’s IT Infrastructure where appropriate.
Education, Training and/or Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Previous work experience in developing or working on Service Oriented Architecture, Application Architect or Enterprise Architecture preferred.
3. Seven to ten years of experience with UNIX Systems, Perl, PL/SQL, JAVA, SUN Solaris, and Oracle (Apps & Database), and Cisco Networking equipment.
4. Familiarity and work experience with Apache, Red Hat and various Operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux), Oracle/SQL Data Base and Network preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
1. In depth knowledge of infrastructure and technology including SUN Solaris, Cisco Networking, Microsoft and their corresponding product suites.
2. Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
3. Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
4. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
5. Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Able to write reports, business correspondence.
8. Computer skills: systems analysis, design and program development skills, state-of-the-art software capabilities.
