Description: Sr Linux Systems Administrator
Location: Brisbane
IGN Entertainment, a unit of Fox Interactive Media, provides many of the Internet's leading destinations for video gaming and entertainment enthusiasts and is a leading provider of technology for online video games. It offers business customers a full spectrum of tools to better develop products and provide in-depth understanding of the gaming and entertainment markets.
IGN has an immediate need for a full-time versatile Sr. Systems Administrator to mange our growing linux infrastructure as well as provide secondary storage support. This is a role for a disciplined, motivated, creative, and well-organized individual with experience supporting complex systems at an internet company. We are looking for a service-oriented individual familiar with all aspects of operating a 24x7 website with experience in linux systems administration and security as well as storage administration and performance.
The ideal candidate would be:
? Responsible for the day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, and configuration of the internet data center servers and applications.
? Responsible for server installs and general maintenance of the data center servers including patch management, security, hotfix deployment.
? Responsible for troubleshooting performance problems and implementing automation as necessary.
? Must be able to own and manage a production area (e.g. Hosting Infrastructure or Backup Strategy) and to proactively define, improve, and manage the needs of the environment.
? Must be comfortable working in heterogeneous environments - Windows/RedHat Linux.
? Must be an excellent troubleshooter and work to resolve problems thoroughly.
? Must be results-driven and able to work well and cooperate with others.
? Must be able to be on-call periodically and work after hours/weekends as necessary.
Qualifications:
? BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE, CIS, or a related program
? 4+ years hands on experience working as linux systems administrator in an internet data center environment as well as working with Netapp storage in high I/O environements.
? Scripting/programming skills a must
? Excellent oral and written communication skills required
